The Greater Polk County Farmers Market would like to Thank everyone who made our opening day of the market a great success. We feel that the Home & Garden Show was a great opporiunity to reach those in surrounding areas. We had several of our vendors there sharing their products that they will have at our regular market days. We also want to share that the market wants to welcome a new beef vendor to our market, and her name is Sharon Hunt and with her husband Jim they will be bringing Ozark Belgian Blue Beef, so we ask when coming to our market please stop by and check out this great beef.
Tuesday,April 20 was our second day of market and we had a great turn out, it was great to see several of our customers, and we believe that several were surprised to see some of the products that we had to offer so early in the Spring. We had fresh ripe tomatoes from Blossers farm, and they went very fast, but they will be bringing more, we appreciate all the hard work that they and their families do to bring their great produce and flowers to our market.
Saturday April 25, was a very wet day but it was a very busy day for us at the market as the rain didn't stop our valued customers to come and shop. We really appreciate the increase of interest in our local farmers market, so share with your friends, and families, it a great place to shop.
Tuesday April 27, as everyone knows strawberries are very high in demand, and to our surprise yes we had fresh strawberries at our afternoon market, and they will be enjoyed by many. We never know what we will find at our local market, we want to remind everyone that our market is every Tuesday 3:30 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:00.
Thank You

A Truly Certified Kitchen
As you know, for the past 3 months, we have been updating our low acid food processing to Missouri and FDA standards. Along with that we attended the State of Missouri sponsored workshop "Field to Market" with regard to food safety. We encourage all growers and producers to learn as much as they can to stay ahead of the curve. While it does seem somewhat intrusive on the time honored ways of the farmer and producer and their customers, these regulations have come to almost all US Farmers Markets to protect the food supply, both on the farm and on the table.
That said, we thought our fellow market vendors, customers and friends would like to see our Missouri Dept. of Health and Polk County Dept. of Health Certified Kitchen. We work hard to maintain above and beyond safety standards in order to continue providing you with the best homemade jams, jellies, salsa, pickles beets and fresh baked goods.

Welcome to a great beginning of 2010, as we look forward to another great year. 2009 was a good year for some, as to our saddness our market will be losing one of our vendors do to ecomony, and that would be Carters Farm, we wish them well in their new venture, they will be deeply missed. But we will be welcoming a new meat vendor to our market and she is well known and her name is Sharon Hunt, from Walnut Grove Mo, and the name of her farm is Ozark Belgian Blue Blue Beef, LLC, we look forward to having her as one of our vendors. Also we will be welcoming Ray & Jan Vanish they will be providing our market with farm fresh eggs, their business also takes orders for hatching eggs and baby chicks, they formerly attended Fairgrove Farmers Market but we welcome them aboard to our market, please come and help us welcome these and other vendors for a great coming year. Our market will open April 17, 2010 and our opening day we will be located at the Bolivar, Lawn and Garden Show, which will be held at the building of the YMCA, we look forward to this event. We will have seven booths for our opening of our market our vendors will be sharing booths for this event, to allow our vendors to introduce some of their products, they will have in the coming days of the market. Also, there has been a rumor that the Berry Patch has gone out of business and they would like all of their customers, friends and family to know that they are still around and looking forward to seeing everyone at the Greater Polk Farmers Market, and can be visited at the farm, the only changes that they have made is not attending the Fairgrove Market, but they will be attending the Heritage Reunion in September and look forward to seeing everyone there.
